Every parent or legal guardian of students currently enrolled in BCCHS are automatically a member of the PTA. Everyone is encouraged to participate in their child’s experience through PTA involvement. It’s a great way to feel connected to the wider school community.
The PTA has several important functions. One of the primary goals of the PTA is to raise money to supplement Dept. of Education budget. This funding provides support to school clubs, sports teams, computer programs, guest speakers on child development, teacher appreciation events, school trips, prom and even the very basic needs such as schools supplies and copy paper.
The PTA relies on each and every family to give to the school in money and/or volunteer time. Fundraisers include our Direct Drive, Raffles, Bakes Sales, Apparel Sales, and our Spring Fling Auction.
There are two types of PTA meetings—General Meetings and Executive Board Meetings. All parents or legal guardians of currently enrolled students are welcome to attend both meetings.
PTA General Meetings are held monthly, (Please check the calendar for more details.) All PTA members are eligible to vote on motions brought to the floor at general meetings.
PTA Executive Board Meetings are also held monthly. However, only Executive Board officers are allowed to vote on issues at these meetings. The PTA Executive Board consists of parents who are elected by the PTA to represent their needs and interface more directly with the school administration.
Each year, the Executive Board reviews the PTA’s expenses of the previous school year, determines the anticipated expenses of the upcoming school year, and meets with the Principal to incorporate costs not allotted to the school by the Department of Education. If you would like a copy of PTA’s budget please email the PTA.
The most important thing you can do is to be involved: Volunteer your time. Come to meetings. Give us your thoughts. Jump in and help. Ask questions. Donate what you can. Everyone is busy, but please find a little time to help contribute to your child’s educational experience. It’s a wonderful investment that will produce lasting benefits. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. Either by leading an event such as Sport Award dinner, or baking goods for a bake sale. All types of support are appreciated. Have an idea for a fundraiser or other ways to make our school better Let us know. We love to hear your ideas!
