NHS Application 2018

Hello 10th and 11th Graders!

The application for the National Honor Society (NHS) for the 2018-19 school year was emailed to 11th & 10th graders. Please read the application to learn more about NHS and what we do. The eligibility requirements are written below. If you are eligible, we HIGHLY encourage you to apply!

Student Eligibility: 10th and 11th grade students who have an 85 or above GPA, a stellar attendance record, and over 20 hours of a diverse range of community service each year.  Students who have not yet fulfilled their 20 hours for the current year can still apply. Students who do not meet this criterion are not eligible candidates and should not apply.  Students who are currently members of NHS and would like to be members next year do not need to fill out this application.

The application for NHS is due on Friday, April 27th by 8:30 am in Mr. King or Ms. Feld’s mailbox in the main office. Late applications will not be accepted. Email Mr. King or Ms. Feld for an application if you did not receive their email.

Toby Nussbaum Jewish Heritage-NY 2018 Writing Contest

This annual contest is open to all NYC public school students in grades 4-12 and this year’s theme is, Bayit: Home, Family, and Community. Students are asked to write a poem or essay relating the theme to their personal histories, as well as the experiences of Jews and other religious, ethnic, and cultural groups in New York and America. First place winners receive $500, second place winners receive $300, and third place winners receive $150. Hon. Marco Carrión, Commissioner of the NYC Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, will host the award ceremony for the winning students at City Hall. Honorees’ families, teachers, and principals are invited to attend. Click here for more information and to apply
