Voter Registration for Teens

Posted in General

A new law allows 16- and 17-year-olds to preregister to vote. That means they will automatically be registered on their 18th birthdays. New Yorkers are not permitted to register to vote unless they will be 18 years of age by the end of the year, and by the date of the election in which they intend to vote. GoFundMe for Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam

Posted in General

Dear Baruch Families,

We are thrilled to announce that after submitting our proposal, we have been granted $10,000 by the Lemelson-MIT foundation! With these funds, we are designing a sustainable washing machine which will be made accessible to homeless students at P.S. 188 where over half the students are homeless. This
is a huge honor and an even bigger responsibility. We now have about 8 months to build, test, and fix our machine. We will present our invention at the EurekaFest in D.C. this June– it’s a big deal! We would love your support in any way possible, whether it’s through donations, your expertise, your connections, or helping us spread the word. As it stands, the grant we received should cover most of the cost of building, but we still need additional funds to cover the cost of sending team members to DC in June.

Below is the link to our GoFundMe page. A donation of any size would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to give your time or expertise, please contact our advisors at forman.jocelyn@bcchsnyc.net and mistretta.michelle@bcchsnyc.net
