Parent Space: Racism in America

Posted in General

Parent-Space: Racism in America 11/2:

The new date is Monday November 2nd, 6-7pm. Link to follow.

The goal of this new monthly study group is to meet (online) and connect with fellow parents to focus on the deeply important work of confronting racism. We aim to gain personal insight about our own explicit and implicit beliefs and values.

We welcome all parents and caregivers to participate. As we work together, we’ll decide what texts or sources about American racism to study: podcasts, poetry, literature, news, comedy, or music.

Our text for the October meeting, Raising White Kids.

Of course, all are welcome. If you have already begun the book, great! If not, now you have more time

BCCHS Program Change

Program Change Reminder

Effective Monday, October 19th, our school will shift to a full-remote model. Students who attend school in person will still be able to do so, however they will log on to computers and join online classes when in the building. We will be consolidating pods to have larger groups of students in our common areas – the cafeteria, gym and large classrooms. We will maintain social distancing guidelines and students will still come in on a three-day rotation, as they currently are.

The elections for the PTA Executive Board and School Leadership Team (SLT) for the  2020-2021 school year were delayed due to Covid-19.  The elections will now be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at a special PTA meeting.

Although the current board has continued on since the end of the 2019-2020 school year, all positions are open for election. Our bylaws state that each position has a term of one year with no more than two consecutive terms in the same position, unless no new candidates emerge.

Direct Drive: Support BCCHS

Posted in General

This is our biggest fundraiser and every dollar raised goes directly to support our students. The money you contribute is fully tax deductible and the PTA (you are a member!) decides how to spend it; that means the whole school benefits through the Direct Drive.

This year we are asking each family to contribute $900.  Of course, we value 100% participation and any amount is deeply appreciated.  You can contribute any time of the year and as frequently as you wish. Many people have set up an automatic monthly donation via PayPal.

  • Cash donations, please complete the donation form and return it to the Parent Coordinator.
  • Check or money order donations, please complete the donation form with a check made out to BCCHS PTA and mail to:   BCCHS PTA / 55 East 25th Street / New  York, NY 10010
  • Credit Card or Paypal, please go to PayPal to make your donation
